Zooguesser

Privacy Policy

Effective 30 October 2026 (app version 0.1.14 and later)

This policy explains what happens to your data when you play Zooguesser, the animal and map quiz for Android. In it, “we” means the developer of Zooguesser. You can reach us at support@zooguesser.com.

In short

1. Data that stays on your phone

The game saves the following in its own storage on your device so that you can continue where you left off:

We never receive this data. To delete it, clear the app’s storage in your phone’s settings or uninstall the app.

The “transfer progress” code is made from this data on your phone. It goes wherever you copy it, and only there.

2. When data leaves your phone

“Report a problem”. When you choose “Report a problem” or tap a flag on a question, the app opens your e-mail app with a message to support@zooguesser.com already filled in. The game sends nothing by itself. The message contains:

Nothing is sent until you press “Send” in your e-mail app, and you can change or delete any of these lines first. If you send it, we also receive your e-mail address and anything you write. We use this only to understand and fix the problem and to reply to you. We keep these e-mails only as long as we need them for that, and we delete them sooner if you ask. Your e-mail provider handles the message under its own privacy policy.

Sharing and challenges. When you share a result or challenge a friend, the app creates a short text and link with your score, the questions of the round and the name you chose for challenges. It hands them to the app you pick, such as a messenger. We don’t receive them. The challenge data is written after the # sign of the link, and that part of a link is not sent to our website’s server.

Links you open. Some screens have links to sources: Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons (photo authors and licences), the Paleobiology Database, the IOC World Bird List, Creative Commons and others. They open in your browser and are subject to those websites’ own policies.

Google Play. Google Play installs and updates the app. Google may collect data about installs and app crashes under its own policy, and shows us only summaries without personal details in the Google Play Console.

Our website. zooguesser.com is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We don’t add analytics or advertising to the website.

3. What the app does not do

4. Children

Zooguesser is meant for players aged 13 and over. The app doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children. If a child under 13 sends us an e-mail, we delete it after replying (if a reply is needed). Parents can write to us at any time.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR (European Union), the UK GDPR or the LGPD (Brazil) give you rights over your personal data. These include access, correction and deletion. The only personal data we may hold is the e-mails you send us. We process them because you asked us for help (to fix the problem and to reply), and we will delete them on request. Write to support@zooguesser.com. You may also complain to the data protection authority of your country.

6. Changes to this policy

If we add ads, purchases or analytics, or change anything else described here, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version of the app is released. Data safety information on Google Play will be updated at the same time.
